Minister Kamp officially opened the Bio-based House
Hoogendoorn produced the fixed furniture for the Bio-based House
Minister Kamp officially opened the Bio-based House at the Innovation Fair, which was attended by more than 5,000 visitors, on Thursday 14 April. Innovative and sustainable solutions have been incorporated into this house, for which Hoogendoorn produced the fixed furniture, including the kitchen and a wall of cupboards with a sofa and a table. Hoogendoorn used Ecoplex, the environmentally-friendly, lightweight multiplex made from poplar wood, as plating. In addition, organic laminate by Huis Veendam, which is manufactured from grasses/reeds and starch glue, was selected for the table top. This product is also available in wheat, potato peelings and similar materials.
The Bio-based House is an entirely new concept, as both the components of the house itself and its furniture and fixtures are bio-based products. Moreover, the structure is versatile and easy to adapt for different uses, such as student housing, care homes or offices. The house’s energy supply is sustainable, generated by solar panels and living plants, and can be stored in a sustainable battery pack.
